CC Sabathia Checks Into Alcohol Rehab

ESPNNew York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia is checking himself into an alcohol rehabilitation center and will miss the postseason, he announced Monday.
"Today I am checking myself into an alcohol rehabilitation center to receive the professional care and assistance needed to treat my disease," Sabathia said in a statement. "I love baseball and I love my teammates like brothers, and I am also fully aware that I am leaving at a time when we should all be coming together for one last push toward the World Series.
"It hurts me deeply to do this now, but I owe it to myself and to my family to get myself right. I want to take control of my disease, and I want to be a better man, father and player."

Weird story coming out of the Bronx today. Kinda outta nowhere to be honest. I'm not sure if something happened where the Yankees and CC are just trying to get out in front of it and take care of it before it becomes a huge story (i.e. DUI). Obviously if CC has a serious problem, it's best to take care of it as soon as possible. However, it couldn't come at a worse time for the big man. CC had been on a role in September. A season mostly filled with horrible starts had suddenly turned around for him, and it sucks that he won't be with the Yanks during the postseason. If they make it past the wild card game tomorrow, I do think they'll miss him. Because now Adam Warren will have to start, and I think he's more of an asset out of the bullpen. I love CC and hope he gets whatever's going on figured out and fixed. He's a huge leader on this team regardless of his performance, so he will be missed. Drunk, fat CC would have been fun to watch in the playoffs. #PrayForCC

  1. Well, we all need a little help sometimes and I wish CC the best. I am glad to see the Yankees take it seriously if he is really struggling with an addiction. Especially before it is out of control and he hurts himself or someone else while under the influence. I'll miss him playing though!
