Source- Two University of Rhode Island football players were arrested by campus police following a fight at a fraternity house early Sunday morning.
Police said three Chi Phi fraternity brothers were taken to the hospital with lacerations and broken bones after the fight broke out around 3 a.m. In total, six Chi Phi brothers were injured and three were taken to the hospital.
“(It’s) definitely unacceptable,” said Stephen Baker, URI’s director of public safety.
Barrett Lyons, 19, of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Michael LeBlanc, 20, of Charlton, Massachusetts, were charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault or battery. The two will be arraigned next week.
Lyons is a defensive lineman and LeBlanc is offensive lineman for the football team. They and other players were disciplined.
Four players are being suspended from this Saturday's home game against the University of Delaware. Two players are being suspended indefinitely and one was permanently removed.
There we go boys, first win of the season! congrats! Who cares about Clemson beating Notre Dame or Florida upsetting Ole Miss, URI is winning off the field and that stuff is just as important as the on the field wins. I GUARANTEE this fight happened because these frat bros were just tearing apart the football team cause thats what everyone at URI does and these dudes had enough. Which leads me to, I don't think you can fight people that say your team sucks when you've won 1 game in the past 3 seasons, you kind of have to take the shit talking till you maybe don't lose 40-0 every game. At least URI football is being talked about I guess? Whats that saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity?" well there ya go Rams! Soon enough URI will just cut the football team and make it D1 hockey. Worst football program in the United States.
