If you read any of my roundups this year, you'd know that I doubted Ohio State basically the entire season. Well they proved me and a lot of other people wrong when they throttled the Oregon Ducks 42-20 Monday night. Not that anyone gives a shit about what I say about Ohio State football, but whatever. Clearly I was wrong. They looked unbeatable last night. Cardale Jones and Ezekiel Elliot made pretty much every big play they needed to. Oregon would force them to a 3rd and 1 situation, and they'd get it almost every single time it seemed. And I know it's the big story, but you can't say it enough. Cardale Jones was the 3rd string quarterback. Just ridiculous how easily he crushed Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon in his first 3 starts of his career. I don't like Urban Meyer because of how he left Florida but god damn he can coach. Looks like Ohio State is back, and here to stay.
As for Oregon, I don't take anything away from Marcus Mariota. Sure it wasn't his best game, but he would have had to have the best game of his life to beat the Buckeyes. Yes, the great ones show up and play the best games of their life in the biggest games of their life, but I still don't think by any means that he choked. It's the national championship. Both teams are good. It's not choking. Ohio State's offense was unstoppable (despite 4 turnovers) so you can't blame it on Mariota. He was still the best player in college football this year, and in my opinion should be the #1 overall pick in the draft this spring. He got no help from his receivers and running backs, and even the best in the game can't do every thing by themselves. Another near miss for the Oregon Ducks though. Seems like they're a top 3 team every single year and don't finish it off.
