NY Post: MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves’ best days came with Flip Saunders on the sideline.
Now that the organization is shrouded in uncertainty surrounding the long-term future of star forward Kevin Love, Saunders is returning to the bench to try revive a franchise that hasn’t made the playoffs in 10 years. Full Article Here
Biggest NBA power move I've seen in a while. Flip is sitting there as the President of Basketball Operations for the Wolves trying to think of a coach that Kevin Love is gonna like. "Oh, hey why not myself?" He was looking for a coach with NBA experience who could get respect from young guys in the locker room but who was also able to handle the media. Again "why not me?" He's probably thinking that the franchise has never been better than when he's the coach. Dude's just trying to bring the Wolves back to life. And keep Kevin Love. This probably won't be as big a deal as when Phil Jackson does this in like a year or two because Flip isn't as accomplished of a coach. That's why I think it's a major power move. Good for Flip.
