Top 20 Songs of 2014

Okay, so it's New Year's Eve and I'm gonna countdown the best songs of 2014.

20. Nico & Vinz - "Am I Wrong"

19. Jessie J ft. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj - "Bang Bang"

18. Florida Georgia Line - "Dirt"

17. Dierks Bentley - "Drunk On A Plane"

16. Walk The Moon - "Shut Up And Dance"

15. Kenny Chesney - "Flora-Bama"

14. Tove Lo - "Habits (Stay High)"

13. One Direction - "Night Changes"

12. Echosmith - "Cool Kids"

11. Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX - "Fancy"

10. Disclosure ft. Sam Smith - "Latch"

9. Selena Gomez - "The Heart Wants What It Wants"

8. Ariana Grande ft. Iggy Azalea - "Problem"

7. Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne - "Rather Be"

6. Ariana Grande ft. Zedd - "Break Free"

5. Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars - "Uptown Funk"

4. Taylor Swift - "Blank Space"

3. Ariana Grande ft. The Weeknd - "Love Me Harder"

2. Taylor Swift - "Shake It Off"

1. One Direction - "Steal My Girl"

There ya have it. "Steal My Girl" is the best song of 2014. Ari absolutely owned the top 10 and Tay owned the top 5 but neither could top 1D. Absolutely fantastic song.

P.S. "Night Changes" is probably the best music video I've seen since T-Swift's "You Belong With Me"

P.P.S. I only used released singles when considering songs for my Top 20. If I used any song from any album that was released in 2014 then the countdown might have been limited to 2 or 3 artists (Tay, 1D, and Ari).

Bowl Game Picks

So I decided I'll give picks on all my favorite games for the bowl games this year. I was thinking about doing every bowl game but I'm a little late on that since a lot of shitty ones have already been played. It's been a roller coaster of a fall with the Free Money Fridays but I feel confident in pretty much all these picks. I think in the championship it will be Bama vs. Oregon and Bama winning by 3.

12/27
I like VT +2 and the money line here. The Hokies have a really strong defense so I expect them to shutdown the Bearcats.

I like ASU -7.5 here. I think this is an easy win for the Sun Devils. They've looked pretty good this season so I expect it to continue.

I like the Hurricanes in this one. Obviously this is biased since I'm a big canes fan but I really think this should be a good game. I expect it to be a close game but I think Miami will get the W.

I'm going with BC -3 here. The Eagles have been playing a strong season so I think they keep it up.

I love USC here. The players lost their coach recently and all the players loved him. They're starting off behind the ball on this going into it.

12/29
I like WVU -1.5 in this. I've been flip flopping on this for a while but I think WVU can pull it out. Aggies have been having an awful season.

I'm going with the under for Clemson vs. Oklahoma. Unfortunately, Cole Stoudt is playing QB so you pretty much know that there won't be a lot of offense from them. On the other side of the coin, the Tiger's have a great defense so I expect them to hold the Sooners.

I like Arkansas in this last one. Not much to say but I like Arkansas -6.5

12/30
I like LSU -7.5. Notre Dame is such garbage this year. LSU isn't very good but I think they'll take the W.

I take Louisville +7 here. Georgia doesn't want to be there and I think it will be a statement game for the Cardinals.

12/31
I like Ole Miss +3 here. I think they want to end their great season on a positive note. TCU is good but the Rebels have been great this season.

I like Arizona -3 here. I've lost a lot of money on Boise State this year so maybe I'm a little jaded but I think that the Wildcats will run away with the W.

I'm going with GA Tech in this game. Miss State had their season ruined when they lost in the Egg Bowl. GA Tech has their insane triple option and Miss State doesn't want to be there. I think this is the easiest +7 ever.

1/1
I'm gonna take the over and Wisconsin +6.5 here. Barry Alvarez is coaching this so I expect the Badgers to take it.

I love Michigan State +3. All we've heard from Baylor lately is whining so they aren't going to want to be playing in this. Baylor feels like they got screwed so I don't think they're going to come out and play too hard.

I'm taking Florida State +9 here. I think Oregon will win the game but I don't see it happening by 9. There's going to be A LOT of pressure on the recent heisman winner Marcus Mariota. I don't think there's ANYWAY that Oregon can win by more than a touchdown. FSU has played a lot of games where they were dead in the first half then had to come out and win it all in the 2nd half. I don't think that's going to happen against the Ducks. Winston has thrown a ton of interceptions this year and I expect a few more in this game. FSU will get into a situation where they need to throw the ball and it won't work.

Once again I'm gonna take Ohio State +9 here. I don't think that Alabama is going to lose this game but I don't think they'll win by 9. Bama is going to come out on fire and win this. Roll tide.

1/3
I love ECU +7 here. The Gators are terrible and ECU has had a pretty good season. I expect the Pirates to come out and just destroy the Gators.

Anaheim Ducks Weekly Round Up

Anaheim Ducks Weekly Roundup: week of 12/15-12/21

Ducks 7 game win streak as Leafs achieve their own 7th straight win, 6-2 loss

This game was just hard to watch, the Ducks had just won 3 games on their Canadian road trip and had lost some juice when playing a hot opponent.  Ducks were down 2-0 by the early 2nd period and had brief hope when Sami Vatanen scored a short handed goal 13:13 in the 2nd.  Anaheim did not get another goal until after David Booth and Nazem Kadri posted ginos and put the Ducks down 4-1, Ryan Kesler scored a goal 3 minutes after Kadri.  4-2 does not seem insurmountable with around 11 minutes left but Phil Kessel put the game away with 2 goals to end the contest.  It was hard to see the Ducks put away like this, they don't always blow people out of the water but they do come out with victories most of the time, but this was unmatched from the get go, Maple Leafs were the hotter of the two hot teams and weren't letting The NHL's best team beat them in their own barn.  Ilya Bryzgalov had a short debut but was not enough to wake up his team and lead them to victory.

Ducks get back on track with a 2-1 victory over Montreal

Hampus Lindholm started off the scoring for the Ducks with a slapper inside the point off of a pass from Getzy who got the puck from the corner.  This game was back and forth with momentum and possession switching hands frequently and 5 and a half minutes into the 3rd period, the Canadiens final answered with a power play goal off the stick of David Desharnais, a tic tac toe like play assisted by Andrei Markov and Alexander Galchenyuk.  Matt Beleskey responded 3 minutes after David Desharnias with a goal of his own which he scored off of passes from Rickard and Devante Smith-Pelly.  Max Pacioretty left the game in the 3rd and did not return for the Canadiens after receiving a hit that landed him headfirst into the boards by Clayton Stoner.  Stoner was not given a penalty for his hit but it did result in Brandon Prust coming after him and fighting him to the ground.  Stoner came in from the side to hit Pacioretty who was an idiot and watched his pass for too long, unaware of Max, The hit looked ugly but not illegal.  Freddy Andersen added 24 saves to the Ducks effort and the Ducks won their 16th 1 goal regulation victory, they have five 1 goal OT losses and none during regulation.  Saku was honored tonight by the Canadiens who captained the team for over a decade until signing as a free agent with The Ducks in 2009 and spending 5 seasons in Anaheim.  Congratulations Saku on such a great career and being a leader to two great NHL franchises.

Ducks embarrassed in Ottawa: 6-2 loss

One good thing you can say about this game is that the 5 game Canada trip is finally over.  Ilya Bryzgalov made a start of The Ducks for the first time in 7 years and its was just awful, Frederick Andersen had started 20 straight games and during a road trip with many miles traveled, it was only right to give him the night off.  Tonight I wish Andersen could have come in because this game was never close, The Ducks were down 4-0 by the second and The final two goals were sandwiched between 2 Ryan Getzlaf goals.  Getzlaf and Lovejoy had 2 points each in the contest but other than that it was all Senators.  Bobby Ryan scored 2 goals against the Ducks, his former team.  Ducks close out their trip 3-2 with their 2 losses being blow outs, They remain at the top of the NHL standings with 49 points but they are playing pretty average and other teams are.  These guys aren't too far removed from a 7 game win streak so I look forward to them getting refreshed over the holiday break and getting after it.

Footnotes

Corey Perry continues to be held out of the lineup with a lower body injury and was ruled out of Monday's game against San Jose.  Corey Perry was near the top of the goal scoring race before missing time due to contracting mumps and time due to this injury.

Ilya Bryzgalov returned to The Ducks in relief of a 6-2 loss to the Maple leafs and a start and loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators, also a 6-2 score.  Can John Gibson please come back?

Clayton Stoner has received no discipline for his hit on Max Pacioretty, the hit was not considered  penalty in their 2-1 victory over Montreal.

My Top 10 Christmas Songs

Yesterday I did my Top 10 Christmas movies, so I'm staying in the spirit and doing a top 10 Christmas songs list too. I know I've already made my Christmas Jams playlist but these are my top 10 favorites.

10. Bruce Springsteen - "Merry Christmas Baby"

Love Springsteen. Not the last time you'll see him on this list.

9. Powder - "Christmas Don't Be Late (The Chipmunk Song)"

Bunch of versions of this song, but to me this is far and away the best one.

8. Kelly Clarkson - "Underneath the Tree"

This tune has been climbing my Christmas song power rankings ever since I heard it. Seems to just be getting better and better. Love it.

7. Leighton Meester - "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)"

Lot of good versions of this song. Mariah Carey, Leona Lewis, etc. But I honestly think this one takes the cake. Incredible jam from Leighton.

6. Bruce Springsteen - "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town"

Best version of this ever. Except for maybe Jimmy Fallon's with One Direction and the Roots last night. But anyway, if you don't like Bruce you can gtfo.

5. Ariana Grande - "Santa Tell Me"

How cute is Ari? Like I think it's impossible to get cuter than Ariana Grande. What a god damn jam.

4. Taylor Swift - "Christmas Must Be Something More"

Great song. Written by Taylor herself and it frickin heats. Makes you realize what Christmas is all about. Gotta love it.

3. Mariah Carey - "All I Want For Christmas is You"

Was there any doubt this would be on the list? I mean I'm sure a lot of people would have this number 1, but 3 is still solid. Absolute classic tune.

2. Britney Spears - "My Only Wish (This Year)"

What a song. So good. Britney Spears is still one of my favorites, and this Christmas jam is a reason why. If you don't love this song, I don't think you have the ability to love anything.

1. Taylor Swift - "Last Christmas"

Soooo many good versions of this song, but this is the best to me. Gotta love Tay. This is my favorite Christmas song of all time and I love Tay so this is the best. In reality, I'll take any version of Last Christmas over other Christmas songs. The original by Wham! is amazing. Ari has a great version. Fuck, even Ashley Tisdale's version is fire. But Taylor's is the GOAT.

BOOM. There's my top 10. Check out the ones I left out on the Christmas Jams playlist that I've previously posted. There's also a link to it above.

Anything For Hockey

This video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I would do anything to spend an hour there. So fuggin cool. I think this video was made straight from my dreams. I would die for the ole U S of A but living in this part of Canada would be absolutely insane. I wish USA loved hockey this much.

My Top 10 Christmas Movies

Christmas is almost here, so I thought I'd give my top 10 favorite Christmas movies. I fully admit that I haven't seen some Christmas movies that are probably classics to a lot of people, but oh well. Don't really give a shit. Suggest some to me, and I'll try to see them. But without further ado, here is my top 10.

10. Fred Claus

Gotta love Vince Vaughn. The guy produces from film to film and it's the same for Christmas movies. We'll see some more Vince in this countdown later. Also, Elizabeth Banks can rock the shit out of her elf outfit in this movie.

9. Frozen

I don't know if Frozen is technically a Christmas movie, but I don't care. It's winter themed, it's got snow, snowmen, ice, reindeer, abominable snowmen, the works. That's Christmas to me. And this movie is flat out awesome, so it's on here.

8. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

There's something wrong with you if you don't love Jim Carrey as the Grinch. Classic movie, and it's one of the best Christmas movies ever.

7. A Christmas Story

Classic movie obviously. Absolutely hilarious. The only reason it's not higher is because the rest of the movies on the list are just unreal.

6. Four Christmases

Vince Vaughn is hilarious as always in this movie, and Reese Witherspoon is pretty good too. Supporting cast is awesome, and it makes for a great Christmas film.

5. It's a Wonderful Life

If you don't like It's a Wonderful Life, you aren't American. If you don't like James Stewart, you aren't American. Amazing movie. I don't care that it's old and in black and white. This is an all time great. And Donna Reed is a babe.

4. Elf

I love Will Ferrell obviously. Don't know a person who doesn't. The guy is hilarious in every movie and it's no different for this instant classic Christmas movie. And it put Zooey Deschanel on the map. Kinda miss her as a blonde to be honest. Don't like the black hair as much. Anyway, all time great movie.

3. Love Actually

I just saw this for the first time a few weeks ago and it instantly became one of my favorite movies. Great story line, and it's pretty funny. I love romantic comedies so I loved it. I knew I'd love it because it's both Taylor Swift's and Harry Styles' favorite movie. Hard to not love this movie.

2. Home Alone

A lot of people would have this at number 1 but I've got it a solid number 2 on my list. Hilarious movie, and it's a classic. It's hard to explain how good it is but I don't have to. Everyone's seen it, and it's a favorite for everyone.

1. The Santa Clause

This is such a good movie. Tim Allen is soooooo frickin funny in this and I love it. My family watches this every single Christmas Eve and it's perfect. This is one of my all time favorite movies, and to me it is hands down the best Christmas movie ever. So good.

Well, there ya have it. If you have any suggestions just comment and I'll try to watch em. But I'm pretty sure it won't change my list.

Yankees Offer to Pay for Education of NY Cops' Children

NY Daily NewsYankee owner George Steinbrenner died in 2010, but his appreciation for the men and women in blue who protect New York City lives on.
For 32 years, Steinbrenner's Yankee Silver Shield Foundation has provided for the education of the children of New York City police officers, firemen and Port Authority employees who died in the line of duty, and will do so for the family of NYPD officer Rafael Ramos, gunned down by a cold-blooded killer Saturday along with his partner, Wenjian Liu.
The foundation will pay for the education of Ramos' son, 13-year-old Jaden, who attends Charles O. Dewey MS in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and offered to pay for the education of another son, Justin, who is a sophomore at Bowdoin College in Maine.
On Sunday, however, Bowdoin president Barry Mills informed the Ramos family that the college would provide full financial aid to enable Ramos to complete his Bowdoin education.

All class from the New York Yankees, as per usual. This is a tragic event no matter how you look at it. If you support the killing of these cops because of the Michael Brown and Eric Garner tragedies, then you can get out of this country now. These two guys had nothing to do with either of those deaths, and flat out didn't deserve to be killed. This is a sad time for the families of these two cops, especially rough because it's around the holidays, and the Yankees are just doing whatever they can to help. And I applaud them for that.

Thoughts and prayers to the families of officers Ramos and Liu.

Smoking Weed In Jail

Source- A Pennsylvania man was arrested after he lit up a marijuana joint inside a police station  and then defecated on a holding cell's floor. Cops believe Carlen Higgs was high on PCP when he walked into Upper Darby Police Department's HQ in West Chester Pike at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, reports Philly.com"He was ranting and raving and demanding to see a police officer," said Upper Darby Superintendent Michael Chitwood. The 33-year-old allegedly sat down on a bench and sparked up a doobie.

What an absolute power move by this dude. Why wouldn't you light up a joint in prison? Also aren't police supposed to pat down guys and make sure they don't have any ya know drugs or weapons on them. Also, this guy just taking a shit in the middle of the jail cell floor is incredible. Letting everyone know who's the boss of that cell. Being high on PCP at 11:30am on a Sunday has got to be rock bottom, right? Like shouldn't you be at brunch or church or getting ready for the football games that day? Like a normal person. Anything but being high on PCP.
