Boston Bruins Weekly Recap

11/23-11/30

11/24
Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins
L 3-2 OT
This was a great game by both teams. Both were battling hard and neither could seem to get the lead. Marc-Andre Fleury stood on his head for the Penguins and made some dynamite saves that really helped them. It was also Bruins rookie David Pastrnak's first game, he didn't do much in the game but it was good to see him finally on the big squad. There were multiple times in this game when they should have gotten a goal but the bounce didn't go their way. The B's had two goals waved off which always hurts a team. That sort of takes the wind out of a team's sail. There was one goal where Bergeron scored off a tipped shot from Miller and the refs and situation room decided that Bergeron's stick was above the cross bar. It was basically impossible to tell if it was or not so I don't think that goal should have been waved off. The way this season has been going it feels like the Bruins can't get many breaks.

11/28
Winnipeg Jets at Boston Bruins
W 2-1 OT
The Bruins came out of the gate about as slowly as they could in this one. They played an awful first two periods. They were down 1-0 going into the third period and just playing like absolute poopy. Nothing was going their way and they didn't have any fire. The Bruins had to kill off a double minor high sticking penalty on Marchand which was huge. Killing that penalty off brought the game into overtime and Dougie Hamilton scored 3:39 into overtime. Although I'd love to see the B's play a full 60 minute game, you can't always expect that when half of their veterans are on the IR.
