This sucks. It's not really a huge surprise but it still sucks. Thorton was as Boston as it gets. The guy bled black and gold. He may not have been the flashiest guy or a 50 goal scorer but he gave everything he had on every shift and I think as a fan you can't ask for much more. You love seeing the guys on your favorite team leaving it all out on the ice. It was also nice to know that Shawn Thorton was there if someone needed to be dropped. But anyone that watches hockey knows that's not the way the league is headed. Every team doesn't need an enforcer any more. Thorton was a great leader in the locker room and a blue collar hockey player. You'll be missed thorty.
