And In the Least Surprising News of All Time, Randall Cobb Re-Signs with the Packers

ESPNRandall Cobb is returning to the Green Bay Packers on a four-year, $40 million deal, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Cobb, 24, posted career highs with 91 catches, 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2014. He became just the fifth player in Packers history to record a 90-plus catch season.
Cobb and Jordy Nelson became the first receiving duo in NFL history to register 90-plus catches, 1,200-plus receiving yards and 12-plus touchdowns in the same season.
A year after missing 10 games because of a fractured leg, Cobb played in every game and was on the field for nearly 90 percent of the Packers' offensive snaps.
The 2011 second-round pick was in the final year of his rookie contract.
Although the exact structure of Cobb's contract was not immediately known, in terms of total money it is nearly identical to the contract extension Nelson signed last summer.
In that deal, Nelson got $39 million in new money over four years.
Cobb's deal means that he, Nelson and quarterbackAaron Rodgers will be tied together through the 2018 season. Cobb and Nelson are signed for four more years, while Rodgers is under contract through 2019.

Remember about a month ago when I wrote about that random guy at the NY Post who thought that Randall Cobb would sign with the Seahawks in free agency? Well here's an excerpt from that blog:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Literally laughed out loud when I read that. Hey Bart, act like you've got a lick of NFL knowledge for me bro. EVERYONE, literally everyone around the NFL thinks that Ted Thompson won't even let Randall Cobb hit the market before he re-signs him, much like Sam Shields last year. Free agency starts March 10 I believe, and there's no doubt in my mind that Randall Cobb has a 4-5 year deal signed with Green Bay by that date. What a MORON this Bart guy is.

God dammit I love being right. Like is that spot on, or is that spot on? Can't say I wasn't anxious for this deal to happen but my confidence in Ted Thompson to get this done never wavered. I've been getting chirped all week about how it's free agency and he could sign anywhere. Uh, yeah not when Ted Thompson doesn't let you hit the market. Does this every year with potential free agents that he wants to sign. Just waits and waits and waits and then just when other teams think they have a chance, POOF, Randall Cobb's inking deals to send him back to Green Bay. Love it. Love every freakin second of it. I was so happy last night.
