NFL Wants SB Halftime Show Performers to Pay to Play

NBC: The halftime show at the Super Bowl is coveted by artists in the music industry, but this year the National Football League is asking potential performers to pay to play the high-profile gig, according to The Wall Street Journal. The proposition has returned frosty responses from the three final candidates: Coldplay, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. The NFL does not usually pay the act that performs during the halftime ceremony, but has covered travel and production expenses, which can run into the multimillion-dollar range, The Journal reported. Really NFL? I mean I know that Coldplay, Rihanna and Katy Perry aren't exactly struggling with poverty but neither is the NFL. Like you're one of the biggest industries in the country. Why do you need performers to pay you for their services. I'm actually really surprised that the NFL doesn't have to pay performers to get them to play. I get that it's a huge show and it's part of the most watched sports event in the country, but still, there's so many celebrities with huge egos that demand to get paid for any performance they do. So taking into account the travel expenses and production costs that the NFL usually pays, and then enforcing this plan, basically they're just washing out the travel expenses and production costs. So all you're asking the performers to do is cover their own travel and own production expenses. Which makes no sense because it's the NFL's event and they have enough money to bring in the performer that they want. And again I get that these performers also have a lot of money, but it's not part of their tours. It's a special event that was previously not on their schedule, so at least in my mind the NFL should be courteous enough to pay for the performer to get to the venue.

But on a brighter note, how about those finalists for the show? No doubt that this will be the most watched halftime show ever regardless of who it is. Straight fire all around.

Also, I just wanna take the time to say that Bruno Mars was about 80 times better than Beyonce was. Fuck Beyonce.
