NY Magazine published this pretty sweet article about Derek opening his life up to people a little bit more in this last season of his. I actually saw this on NY Post a couple days ago but didn't feel like blogging on a Sunday and didn't get to it yesterday. Anyway, it's basically just a guy who was able to go into Jeter's house and ask him about his life outside of baseball a little bit more. The pictures posted in the article are from another guy who followed Jeter around in New York, Tampa and Chicago during the season, taking pictures of his life outside of the game. Definitely an article you should check out. Just a different aspect of the life of a superstar athlete who's gone about it in the right way.
The only thing I don't like is that Jeter said he voted for Obama in 2008 when this guy asked him who he voted for. Jeter had said he didn't wanna talk about baseball so he asked him about the election. Derek said he didn't wanna talk about politics either but that he did indeed vote for Obama. I guess I shouldn't be all that shocked because Jeter doesn't look like a guy that would vote for McCain, and virtually everyone voted for Obama in 08 but it's still lame. Always figured Jeets was a Republican. He very well may be a Republican still, but oh well. The obvious follow up question would be "well what about 2012?" since Romney was a much more legitimate candidate, but this guy didn't ask him that. I'd like to think Jeter learned from his mistake and took Mitt. That's just the type of guy he is.
Coolest picture of all time? Probably
